After graduating from high school, apprenticeship as a banker and subsequently studying business administration, Christian Montag worked from 1993 to 2000 as a key account manager in the corporate division of Dresdner Bank AG in Bremen and Osnabrück. Before he was entrusted with the foundation of the Osnabrück branch of Bankhaus Lampe KG as branch manager in 2008, he had been working for the bank at the Bielefeld and Düsseldorf locations since 2000, advising wealthy private and corporate clients. The focus of his work is on cross-divisional support for entrepreneurial family groups.
